Be Stronger

Sometimes I ask myself why I am in this time, when I so often feel like I have little power to change the world or even fix myself:

  1. No, we can't fix the world; but God takes us as we are. If we need fixing, he can do it. :-)

  2. “So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

Isaiah 41:4 says that the Lord has ordered the generations, meaning we have been chosen by Him to be here, now. It is our task to discover why. And that means we must seek His will for our lives, to know what He wants us to accomplish. What most of us need to remember, though, is that He never calls us to do anything without also providing the means to do it.

  3. TB, nobody can change the world or humanity in my view. It's doomed...lol...how is that for giving up on people??? Actually I don't think that the saying "even one person can make a change" really is accurate. I think the best we can do is live our lives to be happy, grateful and loved. If that means wanting to change others, I don't think that happiness can be achieved. If it means changing ourselves, and if we do it, then it's the greatest gift we can give ourselves if change is needed.

  4. Thanks Linda. Yes, the only fixing going on here will ultimately be God's, not mine.

  5. Reverend Paul - One of my most favorite quotes from LOTR (how did he come up with so many?).

That is the rub, is it not? I have always admired people that seem to know. I seem to have a long list of what I am not supposed to be about. The "to be about" still eludes me.

  6. Wow Rain, you may even exceed my pessimism for humanity..

Maybe another way to look at it is not changing people but maybe doing a kindness for them. That does not change anything significant, of course - but an act of kindness can change a person's day, perhaps even a decision or a life. It is not global in scope of course, but maybe that is why "CHANGE" as enacted by agencies or organizations never works.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
